Sandwiches?

I checked out the Sandbox for CML's Wiki, and, at first, it made me want a PB&J sandwich, too (check out Molly's "favorite quote"). But then I realized that I have no money and that's exactly what I've been eating almost every day this week. Sad. So I made myself fell better by singing the dancing banana Peanut-Butter-Jelly-Time song.

But, seriously folks, go check out my favorite movies and TV shows (us library folk have good taste!) I used my real name, just for all you stalkers out there.

#15: Wikis

My favorite of the Library Wikis we were asked to look at were the ones that had the same layout as Wikipedia. The familiarity is comforting, especially when you spend less time getting used to a new website and more time looking at information.

Wikipedia is an amazing tool. I use it for many reasons, but my favorites are to look at story synopses of musicals I have never seen, and also, to see what songs are going to be on any new Guitar Hero and Rock Band games that come out. I love that people take the time and effort to enter all this pertinant information.

(Speaking of which, the songs I am most excited about for Rock Band 2 are:

I hope my sister's boyfriend buys this game SOON so I can play it.)

library two point oh

What is weird about Renaissance Festivals is that it's an event attended almost exclusively by BIG NERDS. Its purpose may be to illustrate that that things weren't so great back then. No electricity!?! Mud?!? Torture Devices?!?!? JUGGLERS?!?!?!?!
And then there was this guy:




DANIEL, DUKE OF DANGER. He was pretty awesome, especially his corny jokes which revolved around the theme of What Happens When You Drop Out of College.

What they definitely did not have in that backward time of jousts and wenches was LIBRARY 2.0. (Did they have libraries back then? Did people know how to read? )

Thing #14 reminded me a lot of library school, and the many, many articles we had to read about vague concepts. Basically, it's a broad topic, but here are my thoughts in a nutshell: I think it's very cool that a lot of libraries are trying so hard to stay modern and relevant, and that there a lot of non-library folk who have no idea that libraries are so hip.

So I just created another account that will probably end up like my Friendster account: Forgotten and unused, out in Internet world. But, unlike Friendster (I used to love my Friendsters), I cannot think of a single reason to use Twitter. I don't care what you are doing RIGHT NOW (or ten minutes ago, for that matter) and I don't care for you to know what I am doing.
This is the one and, hopefully, only "Thing" that made me feel old (those darn kids and their Twitter!)

Having GoodReads makes me feel like I will never be one of those old ladies at the library who can't figure out which books they already read, so checkout like 25 to make sure they get at least one new one. ("Can you tell me every single thing I checked out EVER?")

LibraryThing seems like the same thing, except I think maybe, if I ever have time, I can use it to catalog all the books I own, which would be fun, but will probably never happen.

So here it is so far.
